About this Attraction
Badulla Botanical Garden, located on Riverside Road in the heart of Badulla, is a charming green escape loved by locals and visitors alike. Though not officially one of Sri Lanka's main botanical gardens, it offers a tranquil setting rich in biodiversity, making it a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers.
🌸 A Hidden Gem in Badulla
Nestled on the eastern side of Badulla city, this botanical garden is governed by the Badulla Municipal Council. It features a range of native and exotic flora, including some trees that are over 100 years old. One notable tree was planted to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of King George VI, now towering over the garden with a historical cement slab at its base.
The garden's peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty make it a popular spot for wedding pre-shoots, casual strolls, and relaxing family visits. The adjacent Badulla Cemetery adds to its unique character, blending history, serenity, and nature in one location.
📷 Photography & Nature Walks
Badulla Botanical Garden is lovely to photographers due to its picturesque pathways, rare plants, and heritage trees. Its lesser-known status means it's often less crowded than major gardens, providing a perfect backdrop for quiet walks and reflective moments.
