A silver casket and jewels were gifted to the Prince, and the remaining funds were devoted to constructing this remarkable structure. The decision to erect a clock tower in 1880, with additional contributions from the locals, reflects their commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.

Standing before the clock tower, I marvelled at its elegant design by government architect James Smither. The clock, gifted by Governor James Longden, and the bell inscribed with "1882" are exquisite details that add to the tower's charm.
