The Journey
I began my trip from Kandy, following the Wattegama route, which took me on a scenic 25-kilometre drive. The journey was smooth, and along the way, I passed lush spice gardens in Elkaduwa, a cultural treasure trove showcasing Sri Lanka's spice cultivation heritage. The air was filled with the rich aroma of cinnamon and pepper, enhancing the experience of travelling through this vibrant region.
I noticed clear signage guiding me to the falls as I approached the area. The parking availability made things easier, and the entrance fee of just 100 rupees was a small price for the marvel that awaited.
The Walk to the Falls
The short 300-meter walk from the entrance to the waterfall was a serene experience. The path led me through a quiet, green corridor surrounded by dense foliage. I had come prepared with leech protection, as I had heard these tiny creatures can be a nuisance, especially after rainfall. This allowed me to enjoy the walk without worry.
As the sound of rushing water grew louder, my excitement mounted. Finally, I caught a glimpse of Hunas Falls from a distance, and it was breathtaking. A small bridge along the path served as an excellent vantage point, where I paused to soak in the beauty and snap a few photos.
