About this Attraction

On January 26, 2025, I had the chance to visit the newly opened Eagle's Viewpoint in Shantipura, Nuwara Eliya. Shantipura is the highest village in Sri Lanka, at an elevation of 7,339 feet above sea level. As I made my way to this spectacular location, I couldn't help but be excited about what awaited me.

The Scenic Beauty

The viewpoint exceeded my expectations, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Uva Province, Pidurutalagala, Haggala, Gregory Lake, and even landmarks like Adam’s Peak and the Sapthakanya Mountain Range. The cool mountain air and the stunning scenery provided an unforgettable experience. The neatly manicured tea bushes and distant blue hills added a magical charm to the landscape.

The view itself felt like a masterpiece painted by nature. I took countless pictures, but none could fully capture the serene beauty of the place.

Exploring the Attractions

Eagle's Viewpoint isn't just about the views—it’s also about the experience it offers. Here’s what stood out during my visit:

  1. Scenic Landmarks: With over 30+ major landmarks visible from the viewpoint, I felt like I was on top of the world. The highlights for me were the mesmerizing views of Gregory Lake and the towering Pidurutalagala Mountain.
  2. Accessibility: The location is well-connected, just a short drive from key landmarks in Nuwara Eliya:
    • Lover's Leap Waterfall: 30 minutes away
    • Gregory Lake: 19 minutes away
    • Nuwara Eliya Bus Stand: 12 minutes away
  3. Eagles' Lounge: I indulged at the elegant Eagles’ Lounge, where I enjoyed a hot cup of tea while soaking in the spectacular views. The lounge was spacious, comfortable, and ideal for relaxation.
