During my recent trip to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's first capital, I was captivated by its rich historical legacy. This ancient city, over 2,200 years old, once thrived as a centre of politics, religion, and trade. As I explored its many ruins and archaeological sites, I realized how well-connected the city must have been, thanks to its advanced road network that linked Anuradhapura to major regions like Trincomalee, Mannar, and Jaffna.
