I chose the direct path, eager to witness the falls early on. The cool climate, with temperatures around 16°C, made the 3.3-kilometre trek refreshing. The sound of birdsong and the sight of mist drifting through the trees added to the magical atmosphere.

I did, however, stay a safe distance from the plunge pool. Locals and park guides warn that the pool is nearly 12 meters deep and can be dangerous due to the strong currents. Safety comes first, always.
