Nestled at the base of Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain, Pidurutalagala, Mandaram Nuwara, is everything its nickname, the "Misty City," promises. The village was veiled in a gentle mist as I arrived, creating an ethereal and calming atmosphere. The cool climate and tranquil surroundings instantly made me feel like I had stepped into another world, far removed from the hustle of daily life.
Discovering Kolapathana Ella Waterfall
A short and easy hike led me to Kolapathana Ella, one of the most enchanting waterfalls I’ve ever seen. The sound of cascading water and the lush greenery surrounding the falls made it a magical experience. I stood mesmerized by the sight of the water tumbling in sparkling streams, feeling utterly connected to nature.
Exploring the Waterfalls of Mandaram Nuwara
Mandaram Nuwara is truly a haven for waterfall enthusiasts. In addition to Kolapathana Ella, I explored several other breathtaking falls:

Departing from Kandy, I took the Haragama Road and passed through picturesque villages like Adhikarigama, Hanguranketa, and Poramadulla. The winding roads, framed by lush greenery and rolling hills, made the drive an adventure to remember. After a turn onto Liyanwela Brook Side Road, I arrived at this serene retreat and travelled about 16 kilometres.
