About this Attraction

Nestled just 4 kilometres from Matara Town, Madiha Beach quickly became one of my favourite coastal escapes in Sri Lanka. This unspoiled haven perfectly blends natural beauty, thrilling water adventures, and a relaxed local vibe.

Surfing at Madiha Beach

Madiha Beach is renowned among surfers and for a good reason. Whether you're a beginner eager to catch your first wave or a seasoned surfer looking for the next big swell, the beach delivers an unforgettable experience. I started surfing at Turtle Point, a spot that perfectly balances challenge and fun. The waves here are consistent year-round, making it a dream for surfers of all levels.

Exploring the Underwater World

Beneath the surface, Madiha Beach offers a different kind of adventure. The coral reefs here are a vibrant underwater world teeming with marine life. Snorkelling and diving brought me face-to-face with various fish and sea turtles. The reefs are not just a visual spectacle but also a vital ecosystem, making the experience both thrilling and humbling.

The Coastal Cuisine

Madiha Beach is a culinary delight for seafood lovers. After surfing and snorkelling, I enjoyed fresh seafood prepared in local styles. The flavours, from tangy curries to perfectly grilled fish, were as vibrant as the beach. Dining with the ocean breeze in my hair and the sound of waves in the background was the perfect way to end the day.

Getting There

Reaching Madiha Beach is part of the adventure. From Matara Town, a short tuk-tuk ride takes you to this slice of paradise—the journey through bustling streets and quieter coastal roads added to the anticipation.
